About - The Glasses Gripper Story

Hi! I’m Monica Miller. I’ve been an optician and optical manager with over thirty years experience in two optometrist’s offices.

In 2017, I began working as a finisher in a wholesale optical lab, inserting lenses and aligning frames. I found too often, the glasses I worked on would slip off the edge of the counter, which frequently caused accidental stab wounds, or worse, scratches on frames or lenses. Not only were the stab wounds painful, it was equally painful to cost the lab time and money to replace ruined products.

I realized a need to keep glasses from slipping off the counter while applying pressure with sharp tools. And so began my search. With nothing on the market to fulfill my needs, I experimented with different materials until finding the perfect one that would hold glasses in place without causing damage to hands or frames and lenses.
